Prior to working as a freelance writer and illustrator, Cathy served the Canadian Federal Government as a communications specialist, editor, writer and photographer. Her favorite authors are F. Paul Wilson, Stephen King, and Elizabeth Massie. Her interests include Saskatchewan Indian culture and tradition, insane asylums, warped science fiction, religious and psychological horror.

The work of Cathy Buburuz has appeared in hundreds of magazines in Canada, the USA, Australia, Africa, England, Ireland, Wales, France, Japan, Romania, Yugoslavia, and other foreign countries. In 2003, Cathy received The James Award for Best Illustration.
