12 books in 10 years mark Dougie Brimson out as one of Europe's most prolific authors.

Background Information

After 18 years service with the Royal Air Force -including both the Falklands and Gulf War 1- the ex-Sergeant engineer’s literary career began in 1996 when he wrote a book based on his own experiences as a football casual entitled Everywhere We Go. This groundbreaking work examined the culture of football and football violence from the inside and has become essential reading for anyone with an interest in the game and its supporters. A further 10 books have followed and their success has established the author as one of the worlds leading authorities on the issues of the game and lad culture. These are: • EVERYWHERE WE GO - non-fiction 1996 • ENGLAND, MY ENGLAND - non-fiction 1996 • CAPITAL PUNISHMENT - non-fiction 1997 • DERBY DAYS - non fiction 1998 • THE GEEZERS' GUIDE TO FOOTBALL - fiction/comedy 1998 • THE CREW - fiction/thriller 1999 • BARMY ARMY - non-fiction March 2000 • BILLY'S LOG - fiction/comedy November 2000 • TOP DOG - fiction/thriller March 2001 . EUROTRASHED – non-fiction March 2003 . KICKING OFF - non-fiction May 2006 . REBELLION - non-fiction Sept 2006 Widely acknowledged as well as one of football’s most vocal anti-violence and anti-racism campaigners, Dougie was an advisor to both the British governments working group into football disorder and the European commissions' football group. He has also written extensively for various magazines, newspapers and websites including The Sun, The Times, The New York Times, The Guardian. Loaded, Four-Four-Two magazine, About.com and Football 365. In 2003 Dougie made the move into screenwriting with the critically acclaimed short movie IT’S A CASUAL LIFE. His first full length feature film, the Hollywood funded GREEN STREET starring Elijah Wood, was released in September 2005 and has won numerous awards including: Narrative Jury Prize - SXSW Film Festival Narrative Feature Audience - SXSW Film Festival Best of Festival – Malibu Film Festival Jury Award (feature) – Malibu Film Festival Official Selection – Tribeca Film Festival After a successful worldwide cinema release it is now on sale in DVD format and in its first month sold almost 100,000 units in the UK alone. Dougie’s TV resume is equally impressive and began with the production of comedy inserts for Bravo TV’s late night show THE BASEMENT which he also co-presented. He then went on to produce and present two motorsport based series for Granada Television in Manchester before turning his hand to development. Current projects include a TV comedy drama set in Dubai, a movie about an ex-boxer and a brand new motorsport series for C5. He is also heavily involved with big screen adaptations of his novels THE CREW and BILLY’S LOG. The latter with backing from the UK Screen Council. TV and radio credits as a specialist guest are numerous and include Sky News, BBC News, BBC News24, NBC, CBN, ESPN, Talk Radio and Radio 5 Live as well as numerous sports and news shows in countries around the globe.
