Jack Kerouac came from Lowell Massachusetts. I guess that explains a lot of things!

Background Information

There are two really great books that i have read. The first is "Five Years to Freedom" by Lt.Col James N. Rowe. It's been twenty years or so since i read His story, but i will always remember it for his preseverance under the most God-awful circumstances. He suffered as no man other than Paul the Apostle may have suffered. You cannot help but to cry.
The second great story i ever read is a work of fiction titled "Call the Darkness Light" by author Nancy Zaroulis. It is a story about a young woman named Sabrina Palfrey who becomes orphaned when her father, the Reverend Palfrey dies. Sabrina, still little more than a girl then travels to the newly born industial mill city of Lowell Massachusetts and begins to find out what it is like for a woman to live independently in todays (1840-1860's)modern world. In this story, you learn about the grueling ritual of working six 14 hour days a week. Going home after work to a Hot stuffy and crowded boarding house. This story covers close to thirty years of Sabrina's life. It is truly the most amazing story i have ever read, twice.
