Ruadhan J McElroy (also R J McElroy), is a blogger, writer, artist and musician who lives in Ann Arbor, MI. He was educated at St. Adalbert's Catholic School, went to public school from grades 7 through 11 and quit in his senior year, having made the choice to work full-time to pay his rent. He obtained a GED at Washtenaw Community College on a bet to get $50. He is still owed that $50.
A female-to-male transsexual, his current "pet project" is an allegorical experimental novel he calls Simple Man: the Autobiography of Peter West, about a castrato singer, castrated by his mother, who rose to fame in the late 1970s and early 1980s, first as a choral singer, then as a recitalist, then finally his way, with his own late-breaking New Wave band ANGEL.
He has also written, under a pseudonym, for the Deathrock fanzine "Spooky," edited by Las Vegas domina Mme. Angulique. During that time, he lived in the Los Angeles area where he worked in adult entertainment and became associated with the cult-followings of underground bands like The Peppermint Creeps and F. He is still friends with many of those people, though that "scene" is no longer a primary interest of his.
