Julie D'Arcy was born in Bendigo, Australia and grew up in Wangaratta, N.E Victoria. At school she enjoyed writing and often had articles published in school magazines. She attended Caulfield Institute of Technology where she studied Art and Design, majoring in Ceramic Art.
After leaving college she returned to Wangaratta, where she set up her own pottery business specializing in fantasy pottery.
Julie has been writing part time for nine years.
ImaJinn Books in Michigan, America, published her first novel Time of the Wolf, in 1999. The book was a Trade Paperback.
The book was nominated for the Pearl Award 1999, The Sapphire Award 1999, Best Paranormal/Romance, and WON the 2000 RIO (Readers International Organization) Dorothy Parker Award for Fantasy and excellence in women's fiction.
The novel was also nominated for the 2001, Sapphire Award, in America, and was shortlisted in the top six in Australia for the very prestigious, Australian RBOTY (Romantic Book Of The Year) won by a Random House author.
Time of the Wolf also received several 5 Star Reviews in the USA. American sci-fi writer, Catherine Asaro (TOR) reviewed the book for The SF. website, where it achieved an excellent review.
Silverdawn, Julie’s second published novel was released in Trade Paperback, in America by ImaJinn Books, July 20th, in 2001. Silverdawn is a Fantasy Romance with elements of magic, adventure, intrigue, humor, and horror.
Julie’s third novel ‘The Cross of Tarlis’, a Romantic Fantasy novel, was to be published by JB Books in Australia, unfortunately the company collapsed. A full of this manuscript has recently been requested by Hot Java Publications in Washington, America.
Julie’s fourth book ‘Legacy of the Black Dragon' is a stand alone book, but is also set in Tarlis. The book is a Romantic fantasy, with elements of high fantasy, humor, suspense and romance, and Dragon Moon Press in Canada has recently requested the full.
She is also working on a paranormal regency romance, in which a young woman is burned as a witch in the sixteen hundreds in Cornwall England. She has sworn to haunt the castle until she is reunited with her husband, Cai. He is re-incarnated in the 1800's as Aidan d'Morgan, and wins the castle on the turn of a card. What follows is a chilling tale of treachery, adventure and haunting romance. An editor at Pan Macmillan Australia has requested this book to read when it is finished.
Julie has also just signed a contract to have her 30,000 word, Fantasy Romance story, Face of a Stranger,to be published in an Anthology, by ImaJinn Books late 2003.
Her fantasy/horror, story 'On The Lake' was chosen to be included in an Australian anthology put out by the Australian Chapter of RWA 1998, titled, 'Between the Sheets.' And she was invited to write a short story for Dreams Unlimited (America) in 1999. Julie’s 7,000 word fantasy romance short story, Beyond the Green Door, was published in November 1999. This was an e-book anthology, titled Stardates: Infinite Celebrations. Authors such as Susan Sizemore (Ace, Science Fiction) and Astrid Cooper(JB BOOKS), featured in this publication. This company has since gone under and the rights are now available for this story.
