Carol Haytko was born in Tennessee in 1980. Throughout 1996 and 1997, Carol lectured across the state and was featured in many radio& television segments, as well as newspaper articles. In May of 1998, Carol graduated as a honor's student from Glencliff High School in Nashville. She was accepted into the Criminal Justice Program at Norwich University, also known as the Military College of Vermont, in Northfield, Vermont, but left after only one year. She later attended Lehigh Carbon in Pennsylvania and is currently working towards her English degree at an unspecified university.
Carol met her husband, Peter, while visiting Norwich University in April 1998. The two were married a short time later. They currently have no children and are buying a 300 year old house in South Eastern Pennsylvania.
Carol attributes her success to the many people throughout her life that have pushed her to succeed. She feels that her husband, Peter, has been a source of strength and confidence. She has been blessed by a wonderful family, including her parents, Troy and Brenda, and her younger brother, James Allen, as well as her grandmother, Peggy Maynard. In addition, she also married into a supportive family, with her in-laws, Peter and Carmen (Matos) Haytko, helping pave the way. There have also been many inspiring people in Carol's life, including her mentor, Carol Gregory (whom she met in 1992) , and Steve Loftin, whose poetry she quotes in the sequel to After Dark, entitled Bella Luna. Surrounded by loving family and friends, she remains busy at work on several pieces, including a collection of poetry.
