Background Information

A Midwesterner, Linda, grew up the eldest of three children in the small, rural community of Macon, Illinois; tall corn, soybeans, railroad tracks and no stoplights. Before and after school, she spent any squeeze of spare time among band practices, singing, school plays and editing the yearbook, preciously tending to injured or orphaned animals, wild or domestic. The thought occurred to her that becoming a veterinarian might be a perfectly matched profession. Instead, she became a veteran (that's close, right?) Linda pursued and achieved dreams of travel and education during her twenty-three year career as a United States Marine. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Business Management and a Master of Science in Educational Psychology from Eastern Illinois University. Upon retiring from the Marine Corps, Linda began teaching curriculum psychology courses and designing soft skill/hard skill industry training for the North Carolina Community College System and diverse corporate clients. Finding herself oddly stationary in military retirement, she longed to return to her roots as an animal caretaker. With approval from her four indoor only cats, Linda began volunteering at a local wildlife shelter pursuing her passion in wildlife conservation and rehabilitation, which now spans thirteen years. She quickly achieved her certification as a state wildlife rehabilitator, is Past President of the Wildlife Rehabilitators of North Carolina and continues to actively volunteer at the Outer Banks Wildlife Shelter, working clinic in rehabilitation, mentoring new volunteers and facilitating tour groups. Linda is proactively concerned with the loss of wildlife habitat due to progressive development throughout the United States and seeks to rally support for the protection and stewardship of America's extraordinary natural resources. Linda is a staunch advocate for animal rights and resides in eastern North Carolina with her husband, John.

Accomplishments

ABOUT HER NOVEL, "Save Them All," READERS SAY:

"While reading "Save Them All", I found myself jealous of the easy way in which Colbi told people just what she thought about them. I actually covered my mouth with my hand a few times! It made her character all the more intriguing to me. I can't wait to read the sequel in order to find out what will happen with all of the characters that you weaved into charming Locus Point. And I thank you for helping me realize the situations in which our wildlife undergo due to my fellow humans. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, 'There is no knowledge that is not power.' Keep giving us the power to save them." Tracy Y. - Weldon, IL

"The animal stories from the Down East center are all there for us animal lovers, but there is so much more: drama, mystery, violence, romance, friendship. 'Save Them All' is pure Linda, a well-written book with a lot of depth and passion." Carolyn A. - Columnist, Jacksonville Daily News

"I loved your book! Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. It was so wonderful to read a book that captures the spirit of wildlife rehabilitation. You are a gifted writer, and I hope to read more books by you in the future." Shannon W. - Clinton, NC

"I was so surprised at how into the book I got. I thought it was fantastic. I love the characters. I was happy that the book wasn't all specific, tragic animal issues (I know there were a few) but it wasn't emotionally draining that way. The other events that were going on kept me interested and so excited. It was really great!"
Taryn W. - Killeen, TX
