Born and raised in New Mexico, S. Joan Popek lives and writes in Roswell, NM, the UFO capital of the world.
Her publishing accomplishments include THE ADMINISTRATOR from The Fiction Works, SOUND THE RAM'S HORN, a nonfiction, JUMP START YOUR WRITING CAREER WITH ELECTRONIC PUBLISHERS and over 200 fiction, nonfiction and poetry works in various magazines. She is a member of EPIC, Ardeon, EPPRO and several associations for small press editors and publishers such as TerrorZines and The Cooperative.
She is also active in several online writers' critique groups.
Now she is working on a collection of short stories, FAIRY TALES WITH A FREUDIAN FLAIR and a mystery novel.
Although she writes in many genres, Her true love is science fiction, and her short stories have appeared in The Roswell Literary Review and Millennium Science Fiction & Fantasy,
Eternity, THE EDGE, Exodus, Anotherealm, Chaotic Reflections, Pulp Eternity, The Special Editors' Edition of Goddess of the Bay and others. One of her stories will soon be
featured In "The Best of Eternity, Volume 1".
Her nonfiction credits include: Writer's Digest, Fiction Writer, Southern New Mexico Magazine, Southern New Mexico online Magazine, Writer's Hall, The Candlelight Poetry
Journal, Feelings and Eclipsing. Many of her works have appeared in several small press anthologies and have won awards.
Her book, THE ADMINISTRATOR, was nominated for the 1999 "Best of Electronic Books" and is a winner in the EPPIE 2000 Best Electronic Book Contest. Her column "Ask
Dr. Web Write" placed second in the 1999 Best Article Awards, and Millennium Science Fiction & Fantasy Magazine placed second for the 1999 "Best E_Zine Award." Her book,
SOUND THE RAM'S HORN has received rave awards.
She is often a guest speaker at writer's gatherings and loves conducting writer's workshops so she can share what she's learned with other authors.
