"life is full of loneliness, misery, and suffering, and it's all over much too soon." - woody allen

Background Information

I am twenty-three and have a voracious and insatiable appetite for life.  I am stuck in one of Arizona's small unrelenting farming towns at the moment and it is driving me bats.  I write to escape, partly, and also because I can't go a day without it; the Muses hang on me like lead clouds.  This is good, I suppose.  There was a time when I couldn't write at all, when I would end the day anxious at being utterly incompetent in the field, but those days are over.  My biggest difficulty: sitting down in the chair.  Writing has done wonders for my attention span, true, but actually focusing myself on the task is next to impossible.  I suppose it is true of many writers and indeed myself as well that I will do anything to avoid writing.  My favourite useless pastime that riddles me with guilt at being inactive: text-based MUDs, followed secondly by Myspace and hours of time on (and I'm unsure how I do it, but I think I spent three hours on there one day; such is life.)  The book I'm writing is summed up by saying: teenage witches.  It sounds utterly dull, but I am confident that I am spinning it in such a way as to make it New and Interesting and Awe-Inspiring.  The fucker has started to haunt me, and I can't stop thinking about it.  It is my first book, and indeed like my first child.  I hope to write piles more.  But I must take it bird by bird.

Publication of a poem, "upon undertaking the path to enlightenment", in quietSHORTS, some article about patriotism and cynicism in the paper at Flathead Valley Community College, various blurbs here and there, honourable mentions in blogs. Nothing concrete. I sold a photograph of my legs once at an art event in downtown Phoenix.

Additional Information

I have three loves in my life: writing, photography, and being interesting. The last is much more difficult to become talented at than the other two, but I'm sailing along splendidly. It is difficult to be otherwise when your only competition are crackheads and rednecks.
