In 1962, he joined the United States Navy and served as a radioman aboard two different cruisers: The U.S.S. Oklahoma City (light cruiser) and The U.S.S. ST. Paul (heavy cruiser). During his stay in the Navy, he also served in the Seventh Fleet Communications Division, which placed him in the midst of the Vietnam War. Honorably discharged in 1968, he returned to civilian life still burning with the ambition to write.

In 1973, he was born again; that is, he placed his faith in Jesus Christ. He joined a large Baptist church and almost immediately began serving. He has served as janitor, Mission Board member, Sunday School teacher, Junior Church Assistant, Sunday School Secretary, and Bus Ministry worker.

While studying the book of Genesis, Mr. Riddle got the initial idea and plots for his books. He plans on this book being the first of a series and is already working on his next novel tentatively called Conflict, which will pick up where Adam’s Chronicles closed.

While little is known about the world that existed prior to the Flood, Mr. Riddle has used two assumptions: that the Bible is true and that the first few hundred years after the Flood provides a window to the past. The first assumption is absolute, while the second is sound logically and historically. He believes that rapid growth of civilization could not have taken place without a pre-existing knowledge base, which was transferred to the New World by Noah. He also believes that this knowledge base was a mere shadow of the previous civilization.
