Mac's first years growing were in Papua New Guinea. Quite often she would accompany her parents up to the Highlands where they would enjoy the local native open markets, and the remarkable Sing Sings (native tribal meetings featuring singing & dancing, and mock battles with spears, stone axes, etc). At the age of about 6 yrs the family relocated to Sydney, Australia where Mac settled in to 'normal' suburban life - schools, shops, cinemas, drive-ins, beaches, etc. It was at this time that her parents and family friends noticed her artistic talent, and soon everyone was encouraging Mac to paint and draw something for everyone either as a present, or just a wall hanging. Mac revelled in the attention. Her writing ability emerged in her later years of highschool where she fast became the pet of almost every one of her teachers for her imaginative compositions, and stories.
