I grew up black, poor and country. The space I entered as ordained by God who delighted to have me there was filled with vibration in its varied nature and my passion is writing about meanings I have discovered.

Introducing
Otha Lee
(pen name)
Introducing Otha Lee (pen name) Otha was born black, poor, and country in Arkansas to hardworking parents: Father - Farmer, Mother - Teacher/Hairdresser. Growing up she worked hard on the farm, and in school, earning a scholarship for the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff at age 16. Four years later, she graduated with honors and soon afterward married a schoolmate. By September of that year she had been hired to teach in West Memphis, Tenn. Later, she and her husband migrated “North” to Chicago (by mistake) and this became their new home. During the course of this 22 year marriage, five children were born (all girls). In those years, she intermittently taught in the Chicago Public School System and took time away to focus on her young children as they came along. At one point Otha ventured into “corporate America” but returned to teaching. She went to an inner-city school on the west side of Chicago and finished out her teaching career there. She has been a published poet for several years and from which she joyfully shares. Recently she published two novels: Celeena & Celeena, Abraham's Other Daughter. Otha is passionate in her fellowship with God and commitment to unity in the body of Christ. She practices love, faith, worship, praise, and prayer. These are qualities she identifies as the victory of Christ in the body of believers.

Celeena, Abraham's Other Daughter
What happens when a woman finds herself and discovers that she is lost? Celeena, first met as a forty-something African-American housewife bound in a mockery of marriage is confronted with a few answers. She is an emotionally abused, sexually dissatisfied wife without a clue to her husband's needs and only a partial clue to her own. Her nature is layered under the tightly wound mien of submissive churchy wife. Celeena's life unravels in the wake of her rape at the hands of the young man she has permitted herself to believe she is spiritually mentoring. In denial of how she carries on until it is irrevocably too late, she enters a seductive relationship with him. Her provocative behavior sparks a daylong sexual liaison at her home during her family's absence. The manner of it forces a humiliating collision with reality. Her shadow world is shattered and she is kicked into the sometimes joyful, sometimes painful experiences of getting through life as a single woman-mother.
Celeena
Celeena's story continues in CELEENA. Now moving along her path as a roistering pilgrim, she engages in the proverbial "hand to hand" cycle of many single adults. Her lifestyle of serial monogamy includes relationships with Kwame, Adrian, John a married co-worker residing in another state, and Jake. She also has a torrid one-night stand with Rene a young French-Canadian who is the cousin of her good friend Loretta. Celeena's evolvement reveals a potent individual with a deal of savvy. She is spiritual, sensual and earthy; a mix that is both connective and sometimes disconcerting to her friends and lovers.
