Background Information

I've been employed as a registered nurse, a freelance writer, a skydiving instructor, a volunteer firefighter, a shoemaker... I've published two guidebooks with Pruett Publishing, and numerous articles, essays and short fiction in a motley assortment of magazines. Star-Crossed (Knopf;2006) is my first novel.

I'm a history geek, adventurer, and an avid sailor. My experience aboard HM Bark Endeavour spawned the writing of "Star-Crossed", an historical novel about an orphaned British teenager who stows away on a ship bound for Barbados during the Seven Years War.

Accomplishments

Star-Crossed has been chosen by the New York Public Library to be among its "Books for the Teen Age -- 2007"

Winner of the 1996 Maui Writers Conference Award

Additional Information

Surgeon's Mate, a sequel to Star-Crossed, is under contract with Fireship Press.
