My first book has been published. Now I have to do what? I've learned that creating a story and having it published is only the beginning.

I actually began to write after several years of journaling. I desperately needed emotional healing and writing became my strength. You could say it was my way of escape. It has been a very long journey, at times extremely difficult. I began to write poetry, this way I could really express myself. Many of my poems were published in the local paper.
After a short period I put my writings aside for several years. I wasn't quite sure why, maybe the timing wasn't right. Last year I realized that I should pursue the talent that God had given me. I once again began to create a story, populate it with characters, and act out the ideas that were buzzing around in my head. This is my first book, but certainly not my last. After I complete the book I am currently working on, I plan to venture out and write on a personal level. I want to reach out to comfort, encourage and uplift. God has blessed me in this area as well. This is a ministry, a calling in which I feel that I must acknowledge. I will also continue to write for children. However, through Journaling, I have become more confident in writing and will use it as a guide for my new life. Not only to transition but to make sense of the change.

I wrote a christmas play for the children at church. Entered a contest to write a very short, true to life, story that would capture the interest of children. I was offered to work under the Dean at the Institute of Children's Literature. I thought,if I could accomplish that, I could certainly write a story or two, which I did. One of which has just been published, some twenty eight years later.

After completing this I plan to write on personal experiences. God has brought me through many difficult times, and I've learned to depend totally upon Him. Writing is a lot of fun as well as an adventure. Over the years it has it served as an escape for me. My journey has been long, and at times heartbreaking. I've come a long way and have much to say.
