Everyone has a passion something that inspires us and drives us to do the thing(s)that we do...a reason that we get out of bed in the morning.
My passion is people, especially my people and by my people I am referring to those of African American descent. Passion and love are contagious and people are my passion and poetry is one of my many loves as well as my outlet to express my passion. So, I am just putting it out there for someone to catch.
I’ve discovered in my twenty-two years of life that something does not have to be spectacular or magical for it to be written about. Instead, it is a poet’s mind that must be spectacular in order to bring magic to the written word, making it poetry.
To my mother, Nikki Giovanni, Maya Angelou, and every other black woman that has influenced my life, through your words or your ways, you have each left me with something that is in itself spectacular and that I will always find magical…my BLACKNESS!
Thank-you black women for being poetry in motion
