“Parting is all we know of heaven, and all we need of hell.” - Emily Dickinson.

Background Information

I am a simple writer. I don't like to complicate words. I want everyone who reads my work to understand it and not be left wondering what I've said at the end. My biggest inspirations are my best friend Rhonda Sexton who is the heart of my happiness in life. Sha Reynolds a wonderful friend who has encouraged me for many years, my aunt Nancy Hejda for her encouragement and the extra push to have some of my works published, my 93 year old great, great aunt Verna Mae Slone who is a wonderful friend, writer, quilt & doll maker from the Appalachian Mountains of Eastern Kentucky. I am also inspired by music, Loreena McKennitt being my favorite. Her music and their stories are very deep & haunting. her voice like a spiritual wind blowing across your soul.

Accomplishments

I’ve enjoyed writing ever since I can remember. From playing reporter when I was a child to writing 50 page stories in school for 3-5 page assignments. So many people in my life have told me that I should publish some of my poetry. I have entered & won first place in two public competitions, I have some of my work in print and the local Appalachian Artisan Center in Hindman Kentucky is displaying some of my poetry in their gallery for sale. My best reward so far is knowing that I have been able to touch someone emotionally, even in the slightest way.
