Born in Berlin Germany in 1942. In 1945 our apartment was demolished by bombs and we moved to live with my grandmother who lived near Potsdam. That part of Germany turned out to be the communist sector.
In 1952 we escaped East Germany and headed for West Berlin. We lived in various refugee camps. After the quota system took its course in 1956, we finally were on top of the list and headed for America where the streets are paved with gold. (Allegedly.) I joined the Naval Reserve in 1960; went active for eight years and retired from the reserve holding the rank of Senior Chief. Did two tours in Vietnam, the first as a craft master on the DaNang river and the second tour on thew USS Steinecker DD669. I joined the Cleveland Police department and retired in 1998.
After I retired, I did a lot of nothing and didn't have time for anything else until my wife told me to get off my behind and do something constructive.
I took too writing.
