I was born in 1962, in the shadow of the Motor City. I've been a writer since I was 8 years old. I wanted to write so much that I got a bachelor's degree in journalism. For 13 years I was a journalist, and on my own doing research as an amateur pop culture watcher and historian. For five I was a technical writer. Now I want to be an author.

I have been writing since I was 8, experimenting with short stories and poetry, but finding I do best in entertainment writing and non-fiction. I enjoy the poetry of the great Americans: Carl Sandburg, Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, Maya Angelou, etc. My favorite authors include John Steinbeck and Ernest Hemingway; I also have enjoyed works by Edith Wharton, Sinclair Lewis and Theodore Dreiser.

I am currently working on a project examining popular culture related to and inspired by the tragedies of 11 September 2001. I am analyzing both corporate/professionally produced items and citizen "folk art."
I am trying to understand how popular culture was affected by 9-11 and how it responded to the attacks. This includes movies, television, videogames, comic books, the Internet and any other vehicle of mass expression and entertainment in existence at the time of the incident.
Eventually I would like to publish the materials I have assembled and analyzed into an illustrated book.
