I have a Ph.D in Education Administration with a concentration in Curriculum Development. I am a retired educator, having taught for thirty years. I worked from nursery school through the college level. The following people were instrumental in my decision to become a teacher:
1. My second grade teacher was such a warm person and an effective educator that I chose to be like her.
2. My mother did not get a formal education, and I witnessed how she struggled to make ends meet. She could not help me with my homework when I was in grade school.
3. When I started teaching, I discovered that too many of the parents of the children I taught were in the same predicament as my mother.
4. To further help adults I worked with the New York City Literacy Volunteers, teaching adults the basics in reading and writing.
My first book is entitled, "SHEER WILLPOWER, Faith displaces hopelessness with optimism." This book is about exposed emotions and uncovered revelatins. We can triumph over adversity and emerge victorious through faith, determination, courage, and passion.
Chapters 3 and 20 should be of great interest to parents and teachers. The introduction to the book is on the website below.
