The fifth of 16 children, Nduka Onwuegbute was born in Manchester, UK then sourjorned in Nigeria for over twenty years. It was while in Nigeria that Onwuegbute began taking an interest in writing; and has gone on to write for soap drama for the small screen, plays for the stage, poems and a novel.
His first major literary work, "Images of War", dealt with the wranglings of two siblings desperate to inherite their father's throne. His first published book, "Drums That Dance In The Dark", toured schools in Bida, Nigeria under the title "The Last Dancer's Will". In 2008, "Drums That Dance In The Dark" was also performed in Leicester, UK.
Then in 2010, Onwuegbute released his first novel, "Masters of the Confluence". In this Historical Fiction, Onwuegbute addresses slave trade in colonial Niger Delta, Nigeria.
Often misunderstood, Onwuegbute, identifies with the suffering of the oppressed, even though he barely sees himself as one. He may not share in the life styles of his icons, but feels the pain of the downtroden. Onwuegbute grew up liking the soft inspirational tunes of Bongos Ikwe, and the socio-political commentries of Wole Soyinka, while coming to terms with the reality happening to Fela Anikulakpo-Kuti and his family.
Onwuegbute lives in the UK with his family.
