I'm a married mom, with one child. I've been married for 12 years, but I have been with my husband for 20+. I like working for myself, and have enjoyed writing my entire life. Until now, I had never written anything I wanted others to read.
This past year another friend had to endure the horrors of breast cancer. It seemed like the last straw. For years we had "supported" the American Cancer Society. Talking the talk and making donations when prompted. This time we desided to really jump into it. We ran fundraisers, made t-shirts, and became "The Girlfriends for Life" team. This experience culminated in an all day/night walk for the American Cancer Society. We raised nearly $8000 in about 2 months. It was an amazing experience, and had stirred a tremendous amount of emotions and thoughts. That is when I started to write.
My motivations ended up being the women that I spent so much time with, supporting another woman whom we all cared about. She recently told me that with the exception of her mother who was there everyday, no one else in her family was there for support. Her girlfriends however were there all the time.
