Literary Equation: Love of World War II and Postwar History + Love of Pride and Prejudice = Pemberley Remembered

Background Information

I grew up in North Jersey before they paved it. The exciting venues of New York City were easily accessible, and if I had any money, I'm sure I would have enjoyed them all.  I have a few years of college, but I am largely self-educated because I wanted to learn about things that were of interest to me, especially American and European history and 19th Century novels, but my professors had other ideas. One of the novels I wanted to read was Pride and Prejudice.  After finishing the last line of P&P, I picked up Austen's Emma and then Persuasion and so on until I had read them all, and from Austen, I went to the Brontes.  So P&P opened a whole new world for me.  For the next 30 years, I have had some version of a P&P sequel swirling around in my head, and two years ago, I finally started to write my novel, Pemberley Remembered.  I was able to combine my love of history (World War II and postwar England) with Austen's characters, Miss Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy, and being a romantic, the novel includes three love stories from three different time periods, all thanks to Jane Austen.
