Joe Ferrari has been in and around the poetry scene since the early 90’s. Although he grew up in the northern suburbs (farmland), he quickly made Detroit his home and passion. He runs an alternative printing house called “Leadfoot Press” for poets and other sub-culture types, and invests the majority of his profits back into the city through volunteer work. He’s had the honor of printing authors across the mainland and Hawaii. His biggest accomplishments include books for the Boggs Center for Peace Studies and the historic Broadside Press.
Major influendes for poetry include (but, or course, are not limited to) the following:
- Emily Dickenson
- Charles Bukowski
- Bullwinkle J. Moose
- Chuck E. Weiss
- Ella Fitzgerlad
- Jesus (the missing years)
- Tom Robbins
- Garrison Keillor
- Willie Nelson (one of America's best poets!)
- the late Mike Barney
(probably the best writer Michigan has seen in the last 50 years)
