Lost in my own mind, I love to create. Writing is the same for me as breathing. I must do both.

Background Information

I wrote on and off in middle school and high school for a few years before I joined the United States Air Force.  Even in the military I dabbled in writing.  After my six year enlistment was over, I discovered a writing correspondence course.  Long Ridge Writer's Group.  I took the course and the constant challenge of coming up with a new story idea made me realize just how much I love to write!  I have so many ideas and so many characters awaiting birth that I will never in my life be bored!

I thought my first book would be from the seven book series I'm currently working on but to my surprise, it wasn't.  No...a little book that I had created for a children's book contest was my beginning.  I didn't win of course.  One day, I noticed an artist on an online community and asked her if she would like to do some drawings for me.  She agreed.  I already knew of a company (Xlibris) that I had been planning on for the 'Fragments' series.  I still don't fully understand what connected in my mind and had me publish 'Gasgeil' first but it happened.  So then I happily accepted her sketches and then transformed them into the colored pages you see in Gasgeil's Bravery.  It's a 32 page picture book.  I inked all 32 pages and even added some lineage to a few of the drawings before I colored them (using Pro Create Painter Classic and a Wacom tablet).

The manuscript for my second book, "Tyme's Hope", was actually completed way before the idea came about for my first book, "Gasgeil's Bravery".  The idea for Tyme had been forming in my head for a while before it was put on paper.  Then one morning when I woke up, the idea was complete.  The writing flow was wonderful and unstoppable.  Of course you have to edit later on but the outline and heart were there.  Then the next problem was finding an illustrator.  Good things come to those that wait.  My illustrator was found and my second book was birthed.

Graduate of the "Breaking Into Print" course--2001. Nominated for one of the American Author's Association Children Book awards.

Additional Information

Currently working on two projects! One is another picture book, a companion for "Gasgeil's Bravery" and the other is the second book in a seven book YA fantasy novel.

It's Story Time, Gather 'Round
International children's reading show. Three Saturdays a month at 10am EST, JD Holiday and myself read or ask a guest author to read from a new book. The show is FREE and from time to time we have giveaways. We ask the authors to send in a book to be read on the show and later donate the book to either St Jude Children's Research Hospital or The Shriner's Hospital.
