Photo taken in a quiet shady part of our Ipswich garden(My Escape).I'm a divorced mother of four,I spend most days reading poetry, gardening, spending time with my daughters and also having cups of tea and poetry-chats with my dear mother.Since 2010 when I first wrote this bio we women have moved from Ipswich to Bundaberg we arrived here in May this year (2011)and we are very happy here .

Background Information

I am the proud mother of four fabulous Children,plus... I recently became a granny for the third time...I was waiting to be  a granny for far too long but my little grandchildren are adorable and  well worth 'the wait.'

Recently my mother youngest daughter and I moved to Bundaberg it is sugar cane country near the coast...we love it here.

I love art and writing poetry (but have been taking a break from writing for a while now ) I have several of my poems published but I still have not managed to put a book together I aim to do so soon.I love reading poetry and I love being a member of this site and several others as well.I love reading ALL of  your poetry and am greatful to many of the poets on this site for their support (rcomments)and friendship.I wont always comment, but I do always read. Thanks for stopping by and reading me too.

Birth Place
Sydney,  Australia

Published in the National Indigenous Times under my pen name of The Blue Wattle. Been published in magazines and 'Wordchimes' Book. I have had commendation in the Henry Lawson Poetry competition and commendation for my story in the Riverfest writing comp. I also have one of my poems published in 'Lifelines' Book : 'Hearing The cry' under my married surname of Marland.I have several other poems published (and will add them here at a later date.) Many of my protest pieces have been published in our local newspaper under Letters to the editor most of these are supporting environmental issues...I have worked for the red cross as a volunteer and for lifeline as a phone counsellor also I have been a Honorary Park Ranger for Ipswich council and in that voluntary role have written many reports to them on local environmental issues which sought my attention. Presently I have been supporting The Green Party helping them out on election day and trying my hardest to support them and Bob Brown in their strive to protect the environment and ideal of equality for all. I have been a member of Greenpeace and I still support their ideas.I believe the world belongs to us all equally and therefore I am presently doing all I can to support refugees. The only awards (apart from commendations) I have are my children (adults now)and the fact that one of my girls has received an Australian Government environmental award that makes me so proud...that to me is award enough. My kids care for this Earth. One of my other daughters cares passionately for animal rights (as do all my kids) and she works to care for them and she voluntarily raises money to help them become liberated (unchained)in their foreign countries...that also is considered by me as my trophy (AWARD). I also have managed singlehandedly to collect 100's of signatures for petitions to have pedestrian crossings installed near schools in hazardous road areas and by doing this succeeded in having safety crossings installed by local councils to protect children.
I have also worked as a volunteer in aged care mainly doing hand massage and hand care for them and I am an avid supporter of caring for the rights of the elderly (this cause was my trigger for becoming 'a Green' and supporter of Bob Brown leader of the Australian Green Party)who is a champion for those too weak or impaired or discriminated against to fight for themselves.
I believe anything can be achieved by the power of the written truly is 'stronger than the sword.' I have written poems defending the rights and pointing out the plights of our Australian Indigenous people...that that these were published in their newspaper (since I m not aboriginal) was a very great honour for me. My sweetest achievement is to have made friends with other poets, namely Steve Ralph who I believe is one of the wittiest story-telling poets around today...and so many other awesome poets on Authorsden and other sites have taken me under their wings and that is so cool and definitely an pretty cool achievement in my eyes. All my achievements are due to God's love and my belief in his love of me and us all.My goal? To really help someone struggling through my writing,if I could do that for just one person that would be my sweetest acheivement of all.

Additional Information

I believe the Aboriginal people of Australia were treated in the most evil and dispicable horrid and NON-Christian way and I feel truly ashamed to be white due to the way the Australian Aboriginals were/are treated by the English/White Australians. I want to do all I can to help change their tragic plight...the aboriginals of Australia are hurting badly from the past wounds inflicted on them it is not enough for us so called Christian whites to expect them to 'move on' one could move on from what they have been a book called 'Blood on the wattle' by Bruce Elders...he is white....the book is true....the Aboriginals own this is theirs...we whites stole it....I face up to that and until I die I will try to make others see it as it really is.Shame on you roots are convict roots so it is easy for me to write this but part of my roots was free...they came here I too must accept the shame of destroying a culture much purer and kinder to this fragile Earth than ours would ever be.
