Martin was born in Dublin, Ireland and is of mixed Nigerian-Irish parentage.  He has graduate and post graduate qualifications from the University of Ibadan (Nigeria), the Open University (London), University College Dublin and the National College of Ireland.

With over 30 years of teaching experience in various academic institutions in Nigeria, the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, he has taught subjects ranging from ESL, ESOL, English Language, English Literature and Literature-in-English, to basic Computing and Information Technology skills to adult learners.  He was also Director of Studies for a Dublin-based computer skills training company for almost ten years.

Martin currently works as a Supervisor for FÁS - the Irish training and education authority - facilitating long-term unemployed adults avail of various training initiatives, so as to enable them progress into full time education, or to join the tax-paying workforce.
