I grew up through the second world war years, and then the Korean war. Those were, like most times in most peoples lives, both good and bad times. Like most young boys there were many things I wanted, but during those times much of what I wanted was unaffordable.
My parents were both working to make the best life possible for us, you know, clothing, food, rent or mortgage. They even splurged one year and bought one of those big console, black and white, television sets with a whopping 5" screen.
Even before that, when I wanted a new bike and we couldn't afford one just then, I went out and scrounged up enough parts to cobble one together so I could get a paper route. That so I could earn enough to buy a new one. Those things, and times, tended to make one become very individulistic and self reliant.
My formal schooling went as far as the seventh grade. Either I was too smart, (probably not) too fast, (likely) or just bored with the slow pace that all those teachers seemed to adhere to. (most likely) I quit school after several run ins with teachers and the principal, and went to work. That does not mean I stopped learning!!!
I am an avarisious reader, and very eclectic in my choices of reading materials, usually having up to five titles open at any one time. But my first love, and most lasting, is science fiction. The most important thing about this is that I was able to grow up to witness many of the things I read about as a boy become reality.
Now I write, and am a published author, in the genre I love!!!!
My first effort, which I naievly thought was going to be a standard length novel, went through the novel stage, then the trilogy stage, and ended up as a saga.
My saga is titled 'The Earth-Chai Saga'. Book one in the saga is titled 'Waking The Dragon'. There are five, possibly six, books planned for the saga.
The Earth-Chai Saga - Waking The Dragon was published and released by Publish America in May of 2007. It is now available on line and at 53 outlets worldwide.
