Tom Tuohy is a practicing attorney, social entreprenuer, author, and founder and president of Dreams For Kids, a global youth empowerment organization.
Tom is considered a leading expert on innovative in coporate social repsonsibility, nonprofit management, and producing strategic shared value partnerships that create profit and social change.
Tom attended DePaul University and graduated with honors with a Bachelors of Science degree. While attending DePaul Law School, Tom studied International Law at Cambridge University in England and returned to DePaul to receive his Juris Doctorate. He is a Kellogg School of Northwestern University Executive Scholar and a Stanford University GSB Fellow for Social Innovation. He has created partnerships with leading educationals insitutions such as the Harvard Learning Center and Kellogg Innovation Network, and with corporations such IMB and Google.
Tom served as Special Assistant Attorney General of Illinois and later founded
Tuohy Law Offices which provides legal education seminars and legal services to municipal employees, members of labor unions, and the general public.
Inspired by his mother, a single parent, Tom founded
Dreams For Kids in 1989.
Beginning on December 24th 1989, with a visit to a small homeless shelter in Chicago,
Dreams For Kids is now a global youth organization which has impacted the lives of over 150,000 children and adults.
Dreams for Kids empowers at-risk youth and inspires them to realize their full potential and to serve as active members of their communities and citizens of the world.
Program activities for youth and adults include:
Holiday For Hope, the world’s largest holiday event for homeless and underprivileged youth
; Extreme Recess, the first of its kind adaptive sports program for kids with disabilities
; social
entrepreneurship based leadership and service learningffor at-risk youth through
Dream Leaders;and through partnerships with local businesses and their employees

Dreams For Kids unique and varied programs have appeared on local, network and cable television and have been featured in magazines and newspapers around the world. Northwestern’s Kellogg School and KIN Global honored Dreams for Kids as the Innovative Nonprofit of 2010.
Tom has been recognized by several organizations for his work on behalf of children and sits on several non profit boards. He speaks extensively to business organizations, labor unions, student groups and educators on the topics of social entrepreneurship and social enterprise, volunteerism and social activism, estate and legacy planning, nonprofit management, and youth empowerment.
Tom Tuohy was born in Chicago and lives in Park Ridge, Illinois.

Dreams For Kids, Changing the World...One Person at a Time is a story is about ordinary people and how they are making an extraordinary difference in fulfilling the dreams of others. The story begins in the Cabrini-Green area of Chicago, and moves to Chicago's Westside, and then to West Englewood, rapidly increasing into statewide and then global recognition.
