Motto: Live, Laugh, Love & Read....

Background Information

My background has always been in marketing and sales which I suppose helps in selling my books. However, it's much easier to push someone else's work than your own. I've always had a passion for reading, and through the works of these talented authors is where I discovered my love for writing. As a teenager growing up in Miami, Fl., I was an avid reader. The beach was and still is my favorite place to spread out and relax with a steamy novel. And Jackie Collins, the first author that influenced me, is one of my favorite authors. She's an amazing storyteller and can weave a story like no one else. Throughout the years, I've discovered many other talented writers such as: Nora Roberts, Brad Meltzer, Janet Evanovich, Andres Dubus III, and Julie Garwood. I could probably name a dozen more, but these are the authors whom I've currently read and loved.

So after living living in Houston, Texas for a year--and it was an amazing experience, I moved back to CT. But boy, did I love the Texas BBQ!! And it was as close as I could get to the balmy weather that I grew up with in Miami. Houston's a great city and I had a ball exploring every inch of it...and I loved the beautiful scenic countryside of Connecticut..watching the deer and decorating a new house. Guess you can say, I've fallen in love with most of the places I've lived. Must be the romantic in me. AND now I'm living In Jacksonville and it's been a GREAT experience so far. I love the southern gentleness of the marshes mixed with the laid back fun of Jax beach. It's the best of everything mixed into one...

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING ABOUT CAUGHT IN THE RAIN... The Dish, October 25, 2002 Reviewer: Susie "The Dish" (see more about me) from The Stamford Advocate www.stamfordadvocate.com A must read . . . Stamford resident and author L.C. Martin has penned a new novel, "Caught in the Rain." The novel, filled with romance, intrigue, politics and danger, takes place in Huntington Beach, aka Surf City, Calif. The author, a lover of the islands, who wrote her first novel, "Destiny," in 2000 which will be available this fall, is busy with her third novel, "Emerald Harbor," which takes place in the Virgin Islands...

Here you have all you could possibly want in this fine coming-of-age novel: grippingly suspenseful it is a youthful romance that is tenderly innocent while the protagonist, Jessica, is bursting at the seams to explore those regions where innocence can be tested and perhaps too easily lost; where she might allow passion to steer her to that desperate landscape where live her alcoholic mother and her mother's sleazy boyfriend, Ray. While Jessica is not even aware of the slippery terrain on which she is standing, it forms the invisible tension in the novel. The reader is always waiting for that one moment she might lose her footing... A very moving novel! Ray Squires, author...
