I grew up on a farm in southwestern Minnesota where, as my son knows, I milked the cows at five in the morning, then hiked five miles barefoot through the snow to a one-room country school, and…well, my son is only eight. I graduated from the University of Minnesota, and then went to law school out east at Georgetown. I practiced law in Chicago and Minneapolis, then worked for a major corporation, and served as president of a small health organization. My wife, Jeanne, is a banker, and we’ve been married twenty years. We’ve got an eight-year-old son, William, and a baby on the way.
