I am the author of The Equation of Murder and am currently writing two more novels. The Equation of Murder is a 'cult' novel about a character called Charlie Scanlon who takes the decision to become a serial killer in order to break free from his life. My book has been compared to American Psycho, and I can see why as it's written in the first and so one has a glimpse into the thought processes of a serial killer, but I've steered clear of gratuitous violence and concentrated on Charlie's motivations, thus giving it a restrained Britishness (which makes it more shocking in some ways). I tend to think of it being more in the style of Alfred Hitchock and hope any subsequent movie will capture this.
I consider my work to be based around psychology and motivation. I want to get inside people and work out the reasons of why people do certain things and why they stay in certain situations.
