I started writing in 6th grade, using it mainly as a vehicle to escape from a life that wasn't the most plesant. Over the years, what started as an escape vehicle has now become my driving passion. I am currently working on a six book series entitled Chronicles of the Apocalypse, and just yesterday, I published a short teaser book called Chronicles of the Apocalypse: Day One that contains the first three chapters from the first two books, via lulu.com. They follow two completely different characters, so spoilers aren't an issue.
Chronicles of the Apocalypse (COTA) first came in to my head as three entirely seperate stories that I created at three different times. On their own, I couldn't make any of them really work. I either lost my connection to the story, or realized the story itself was too weak. But when I realized that all three stories all dealt with demons, demonic powers, or an outright demon invasion, I realized that I could make them work by tying them all together!
So that's what I did.
So now, those three stories have become the first three books in COTA, with many changes being made to Part 3, as that story had always been the weakest of the three.
Part 1 was first born after I watched a movie called Secret Window, starring Johnny Depp. The twist end at the movie was so unexpected, and so well done, that I immediately ran to my computer and started writing. I wanted to write a story where the main character was the villain, but soon found that it was beyond my abilities. Still, I wanted my main characeter to have done some very bad things, so I made him an assassin. Almost as soon as I made that choice, I came up with a revenge story in a similar vein to Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill. I threw in the plot about stopping the Apocalypse to help make the story my own. :P
Part 2 was given life primarily by my own life experience. Which was the reason it never got finished in it's initial form. The real life issues that manifested in that book hadn't yet been resolved, thus I had nothing to draw from, and the book fell into stagnancy.
Part 3 was born simply from my desire to write a character who could create and control fire with his mind. Because there never really was an underlying story for that, in all the different versions before COTA, I never got past the first or second chapter.
But now that all three parts have become COTA, they've all been further fleshed out and re-written. As it stands now, I'm in the final revision of Part 1 before it goes off to my editor, and l'm aiming to have it published via Lulu around late fall or early winter.
