Darkstar is a bright spot on the dark subject of oppression in various periods of history. She believes that as long as anyone remains oppressed, we all are. She hopes her works of suspenseful historical fiction, sprinkled with Pagan Majik, will help heal our planet through better connecting us to feminine Goddess consciousness.

I have been influenced through my love of history, especially how it affected womyn and minorities. I attempt to take my readers into the personal lives of the interesting characters I write about. My interests in Majik, abusive relationships, midwifery, alternate sexualities, womyn's spirituality, and the disease of alcoholism all come through in my original works of romantic historical fiction.
In addition to being an author, I am a traditional birth assistant, specializing in natural childbirth and herbal healing. I also homeschool my spiritual children-- learning from them daily,
The awesome artist responsible for the original covers on my books is Philip J. Bielata of Savannah,GA.

Mortal Shortcomings by Darkstar was released in August 2008 published by Saga Books. It is a historical romance set in Pagan Ancient Rome.
In The Shadow Of The Moon by Darkstar is scheduled for release in February 2009 published by Whiskey Creek Press as a torrid
romance/fantasy. It is set in The Burning Times in England 1525. I think you will become absorbed in the exciting relationship between Letti Marsham, a young Pagan healer, and Wulfgaer, her shape-shifting Shaman lover.

Ovida Lyons is married to a hideous drunk, Ostar, and knowing her place in the world, she lets him treat her abysmally. No man has ever treated her well, but she vows to find some love in the world.
Augustine Aires is a good man until grief turns him into a cruel and whiny shadow of the person he was. His hatred for his archenemy Ostar and the kind treatment he receives from the women forced into his life barely get him by.
Eventually, the world forces the two families to be somewhat intertwined with bad results, and will anyone survive the outcome?
If you don’t read Mortal Shortcomings as a romance you will be intrigued and fascinated by the complex twist of the characters’ mindsets and behavior. If you base your views on the book as a romance, you will be irritated, so read this as a work of fiction and enjoy. The characters lack empathy, but are fascinating, and I could not wait to see what they would come up with next. Behaviors are based on self-centered ideologies that would make a two-year old embarrassed, but I was reading as fast as I could to get to the next smarmy act. The sex, while well written, is for the most part, part of the big “how does this help me” picture. Even the one couple who are really in love lack sympathy, but I love reading about them. The backdrop was ancient Rome and this fit in well with the plot. The dialogue works well and kept me as shocked as the strange thoughts of the characters. For a good, but not romantic read, Mortal Shortcomings is the book to pick up.
