Background Information

William Faulkner and Eudora Welty have been favorites since childhood. Writing about the south and our unique way of life comes easy. You don't have to venture far to find a colorful character here among the Magnolia and the deep Pine. We have a bounty of odd and unusual personalities that keep an imagination working overtime in simply jotting down the truth. Why try and out create what God has set before us?

Accomplishments

Rusty Van Reeves was born in a small rural town in central Mississippi. A tragic High School football accident in 1975 left him paralyzed from the neck down (C4 Quad) at the age of 15. A former Eagle Scout and gifted athlete he passed his GED in 1977 and attended Mississippi State University in 1978. He began writing aggressively at that point.VELVET SKY is his first novel and depicts life in a small southern town as seen through the eyes of a true observer. His words are those of a genuine poet as he paints truly memorable characters that live with the reader long after the final page is turned. Revealing the Covenant is his second novel released in Sept. 2003 / a medical thriller.

Additional Information

VELVET SKY, by Rusty Van Reeves, is an amazing story about love, friendship and unspeakable evils. “I wanted to write about characters that find their way into the reader’s heart. I didn’t want to have faceless names running around from page one to the end. I wanted to create a world where the reader invested themselves emotionally in the story and the outcome. To me, a good book is one where you wish there was no last page. VELVET SKY is a fast emotional journey that asks only that you believe there is more to life than just today!”
