Jason Patrick Doherty
(born January 20, 1979) is an American writer. Born in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Doherty played in goth-rock and industrial bands before moving to Oregon and devoting much of his time to writing. He still produces music, but at a much less prolific rate than his earlier years. His first novel, This Number Speaks, is a futuristic dystopian allegory confronting themes of death and the individual's struggle against established tyrrany.
His second novel, Strato, will be released in the Spring of 2009 from Doherty's own fledgling press, Small Black Star. Other upcoming releases include The Allegoricon and People Never Die.
Doherty's career as a writer is a direct result of a personal paradigm shift experienced in 2007 while, and immediately following his reading of Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged.
Jason now lives outside Portland, Oregon with his wife, Rachel and their son, Damien.
