I have been writing for more years than I've been married and, like any marriage, sometimes writing and I don't get on but we always come back to each other. I've written non-fiction but my real love and major focus is fiction, particularly the novel and short story forms.
As I get older, I think I'm finally beginning to understand the importance of craft and maybe even improving at it, a little.
Born in Scotland, I now live in Canada with my family.
I enjoy the work of Christopher Brookmyre, Joseph Boyden, William McIlvanney, Roddy Doyle, Iain Banks and Greg Bear.
In the late nineties, I wrote a number of articles as a freelancer for IT Week magazine in the UK.
