Major League Ballhawk, John Witt, has been going to professional baseball games since the age of 5. At the age of 7 he caught his first baseball at a Major League game.
Since catching his first baseball he has grabbed over 4,850 baseballs at professional baseball games. Over 2,800 of those baseballs were caught at Major League games. 99 of the baseballs caught at Major League games were actual game home run balls.
Witt’s biggest moment came on September 13th, 1998 when he caught Sammy Sosa’s 61st home run of the season. This made Sosa only the 3rd person, at that time, to hit 61 home runs in a single season.
John has also collected 1000’s of autographs and many game used items. A lot of the autographs are of current players but he has also collected autographs of players from the past including many Hall of Famer’s. He has also acquired game used bats, batting gloves, line up cards and many other really cool items over the years.
The memories that all of the baseballs, autographs and game used items have given John are much more than what just going to the games would have given him. Not only has John taken home many pieces of the game but on occasion he has even become a part of the game with his 99 game home run catches.
Now John shares all of his stories, tips and information with you to help you go home with a “Piece of the Game” every time you visit a Major League ballpark.
