Although I graduated with a degree in Social Studies education (and did teach a while) I have always written and created art. I love creating characters and building worlds where they can live and learn and (most importantly) evolve. I tend to write very organically (sometimes a frustrating method), often dreaming scenes or getting snippets of characters' conversations and motivations while I feed the livestock on our farmstead. I generally let my characters tell their own story (but I do try and keep them on task--in many ways writing is still like maintaining control in a classroom ;-).
I'm currently freelancing for a Korean publisher and juggling several writing and illustration projects. I get bored easily, so doing so many things at once sort of works for me.
I recently won the first-ever US-based cellphone novel competition at TextNovel.com for my YA paranormal story called "13 to Life." Both of my posted w.i.p. were in the top five of the "Most Popular" list for the competition, and I'm currently tweaking "13 to Life: A Werewolf's Tale" . The story began as a highly interactive YA fantasy/romance that included links to polls so readers could help determine details and future action. Read a bit here! I am also working on other novels and related projects, some fantasy, some fiction and some paranormal. You can also read some of another serial tale based on the early life of pirate Anne Bonny, a version of which is here.
I invite you all to come and read, review and vote--maybe even write a bit!
