I am motivated by what's around me. I've never been a 'social butterfly' so I spent a lot of my life observing people listening and learning. Even at 44 I've not lost the will to learn. My favorite authors are as various as my writing subjects.
Stephanie Meyer
Laural K. Hamilton
Rumi
Kahlil Gibran
Jack Keruoac
...beat generation writers...
Joyce Johson
I've written since I was in the 6th grade, although I"ve had some poems printed in poetry contests, I am still a flower waiting to be discovered and given a name in the writing industry. The day I break out in bloom, will be a most memorable day. As a child, I really didn't fit into any 'group' so I guess you could say I was a bit of an outcast so to make it easier for me to communicate with my peers I would write poems for them.
Being a woman with a diagnosis of Bipolar 1 disorder, I've met many challenges in my life..many hurtful but in the pain I"ve learned something. IT's not easy growing up with this disorder, because you are labeled by society.
My experience in Hurricane Katrina was a spiritual battle and it opened my eyes to my creator even more. I shall never forget the experience nor the people who have in some way touched my life.
