Like fragile flowers, poets dare to open their delicate, innermost parts to the world. But what a sad place it would be without flowers.

A Voice At The Door
I began writing poetry in 1989 at the age of 37 and only later added prose to my repertoire. Whilst I have had many poems published in various literary magazines over the years my first anthology "Life Lines" was not published until 2000. I write as a man, husband, and father on issues as deep and diverse as child abuse, drug abuse, age, feelings and emotions, Christianity and the church, and the disability of severe "Multiple Chemical Sensitivities" from which I has suffered since 1996.
Whilst my strong Christian faith underlies many of my poems, they are not easily categorised and cover a wide range of styles and topics. Drawn from my own life experiences as well as those of many I has known over the years, they are more about life itself and the issues of life that so many struggle with - often alone. My various "Island Views" articles are in a similar vein but I like to have a bit of fun with my short stories and they tend toward pure fiction.
You can read more about it at my Island Place website but in 1996 I became disabled by Acquired Chemical Intolerances (more commonly known as Multiple Chemical Sensitivities or MCS) which confines me to my specially modified house or open, well ventilated, outside areas. My activities are further restricted in my need to stringently avoid a myriad of modern, everyday products and compounds, all of which can trigger severe harmful, physical reactions.
I have always had a passion for writing ever since I discovered I had fingers but what started out for me as a pastime and an adjunct to my sermons has now become one of the very few remaining activities I am able to do as I endeavour to rebuild a new life as a serious writer and poet.
OK! That's the "official" bio out of the way BUT to really get to know me you have to read my works because that is where I express the real me. For instance to understand why I write you should read the title poem of my anthology "Life Lines". BUT to understand why I publish you should read "Perchance To Live". And if you want to know my thoughts on the very essence of true poetry you should read "Will You Enter Here?" (I'm putting them all on-site here for you). But, of course, that's only the start!
Please do come and visit me as I sit at the door of the modern world, unable to enter - and nowhere else to go (for the moment).
