At first my major influence was love. But that changed when I was alone. (sniff) Anyhoo, I generally write when I feel that I haven't done so in a while, and when there's something gnawing at me. I've had some friends die on me in succession from when I was 17 through 21. I felt i'd lose everyone I cared about. It was very scary. I was numb a lot, until I put my feelings on paper.

My own favorite poem is titled "Red." I wrote that in 1993. It was the first time I wrote a poem without using rhyme.

I like to write the old fashoned way... Pen & Paper; but I like the online resources at my disposal when I use the computer.
