As a child and a college student I was an avid writer, gaining praise and A's from my instructors over the years. My top honor, however, came in the fifth grade, when my teacher all but begged me to confess to plagiarism because my paper couldn't possibly have been written by a ten year old.
After college, life went on, and my love for writing got lost in the shuffle. Work, bills, and raising a son as a single mother sucked every shred of creative energy out of me. My son is twelve now, and no longer has much time or interest for Mom.
Two years ago, I read the Twilight Series (of all things), then watched the movies, then re-read the books. And, then it came to me - Why couldn't I do this? Six months later, I began researching, and the following month I began to write my first and only complete manuscript. It has been a long journey and a huge learning process. Now, finally I'm close to taking that next step ... the dreaded query.
"Creating a story is incredibly fun, writing it is terribly hard work."
