This is a synopsis of my writing history. I submitted a few short stories in 1978 to book publisher Highway Bookshop in Cobalt Ontario resulting in the publishing of two short stories as a part of Northern Ontario anthologies at Northern College in Timmins Ontario (Shania Twain's hometown). My short story entitled Collapse was published in Northern Ontario Anthology I followed by a radio play entitled Diamond Jubilee in Northern Ontario Anthology II. Fighting one of Canada's most notorious forest fires, a canoe trip adventure in Ontario’s Killarney Wilderness Park, and participating in Sudbury's inter-union dispute in 1960 were all stories included in my ‘Mines and Blazing Pines’ collection published by Highway Book Shop Cobalt Ontario in 1979. I based my most recent short story collection titled Where Rivers Flow North on camping, fishing and exploring the wilderness of Ontario's Sudbury to Timmins corridor during 40 years of outdoor adventure.
The principle characters and much of the plot in my mystery novel 'The Place' released in 2004 by British Columbia publisher Treeside Press were influenced by aboriginal friends. Descriptions include a ceremonial activity after an invitation from a local Chief and elder to observe a Council of Elders ceremony on a nearby First Nation Reserve. 'The Place' is the story of a young First Nation woman's quest to prove a murdered friend died at the hands of a killer rather than a misadventure as reported by local city police. Enlisting the help of a newspaper reporter and police officer April Kenewabi is instrumental in revealing a serial killer is targeting First Nation women. The killer in the exciting climax, after abducting and killing women from the Arctic Circle to the North Shore of Lake Huron, targets April and her daughter leading to a showdown and unexpected outcome
