Chronic illness rearranges one's life. Studying God's promises provides personal growth despite the struggle. Hope for your future is possible.

Background Information

My 30 years of teaching in public schools, my church position as Director of Women’s Ministries, and my 20 years of struggling with Fibromyalgia all facilitate a novel approach to the development of adult Bible studies. By studying and applying Scripture verses to my own circumstances, I am now able to write devotional Bible studies for Christians who suffer from chronic illnesses. One can have personal and spiritual growth in spite of living with pain.

Accomplishments

I pioneered lessons in computer use and time-management for teachers, contributed lessons to a national teachers’ magazine, and received a grant in computer literature from my school district. I have published three personal growth Christian help studies. The first book is a Christian teachers’ workbook called, "Lord, What Do I Do with Sammy?" The next two are part of a series called God's Rx for Chronic Pain. Book One, "The Silver Bullet: God's Rx for Chronic Pain" offers deeper intimacy with Jesus Christ. Book Two, "Choices: Managing Chronic Pain" emphasizes the application of Scripture to daily living.

Additional Information

Book Three, "The Vineyard: Growing Through Chronic Pain," will be available in 2009. Anyone who struggles with pain seeks a remedy; and God responds by leading us to a more intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Silver Bullet: God's Rx For Chronic Pain
A devotional Bible study designed for people with chronic health conditions. Constructed to be flexible, each study has two goals—first, to understand the Scripture quoted, and second, to encourage the user to apply God’s words to his or her circumstances. "The Silver Bullet" provides a spiritual journey through which one discovers how God reaches beyond the quick fixes of the world—medications, therapies, exercises, seminars, mechanical manipulations, operations, and the latest, greatest cure-all potion offered by marketing enterprises—and prescribes Jesus Christ as the ultimate solution for chronic pain. By working through the devotional lessons, in either individual or group study, it is possible to keep physical pain from being a life-stopper and to gain freedom of intimacy with Jesus Christ.

Lord, What Do I Do With Sammy?
With the Holy Spirit as your guide and Galatians 5:22–23 as your compass, you, the Christian teacher, can influence the performance and character of your students through compelling, powerful prayer. Whether a new teacher or a veteran, "Lord, What Do I Do With Sammy?" helps initiate a fruitful prayer life, and remedy your class clown, misfit, and underachiever—your Sammy—by building prayer-inspired techniques into your teaching strategies.

Choices: Managing Chronic Pain
Short lessons, minimum writing, maximum application as one seeks personal and spiritual growth despite the daily-ness of chronic pain.
