Dawn was like a dead blanket of humidity and darkness...so awful that it was silly...I walked in it amazed.---Jack Kerouac, July 13, 1948

Background

I am a simple poet living in the hills of West Virginia. I grew up listening to my mother quote Ogden Nash. Nowadays, I read Jack Kerouac, Robert Frost, and E. E. Cummings. But my biggest influence is the world around me. I love to watch and step into it and get my fingers sticky with its juices.

I have recently published my very first book of poetry. It is called "Midnight Muse in a Convenience Store." A book about thoughts and inspirations that come to a weary author in a gas station in the dark hours before dawn.

Additional Information

Recently, I've been collaborating with my friend William F. DeVault. I wrote a back-cover blurb for his book "The Morgantown Suite Poems." I was only too happy to do that since Morgantown is my home. I also wrote an introduction to his latest grand opus "The Compleat Panther Cycles." You can check it all out on his website www.cityoflegends.com
Also, William and I have recently co-authored a book of poetry titled "Psalms of the Monster River Cult." It is a collection of impressions of our hometown, Morgantown, West Virginia.
