Clem Bechard was born in Augusta, Maine the second oldest of a family of 6. He moved to Lewiston when he was nine years old and attended Catholic schools until his 5th year. He got interested in writing when he started getting noticed for his good penmanship.. He wrote short poems when he entered junior high school.
The Bechard family was quite poor growing up, so he quit school and started working at a bakery at 16 years old, throughout he kept his interest in poems and writing short stories. Clem got married at the age of twenty to his wife of 37 years,Sandy. He wrote her many letters and poems; some of them pretty silly at times.
He worked in shoe factories most of his life after his marriage. Then one day came the news that the place at which he was employed for 12 years was about to close its doors. Now in his early forties,he had to make up his mind if he wanted to stay in shoe production. That plant closed because of imports of lower priced shoes. Because of this people who wanted to learn new job got the opportunity to go to school. So Clem took the chance and went to a local college to learn basic computer skills. He then went to trade school in Westbrook ,Maine to learn PC repair.
He got his A+ Cetification in Windows 95 and then looked around the Lewiston Auburn area but unfortunately, there was no work in that field. He saw an add in the paper for a job at Fairchild Semiconductor in Portland,Maine. So he decided to apply . He got hired in 1997 and has been there ever since.
Today he is the proud grandfather of five grandchildren. All the grandchildren keep asking him to make up stories to tell them. One day a Robin decided to buld her nest on his back porch. His wife Sandy was taking pictures of her and he decided to give her a hand. They also took a few good videos of her stay also. Sandy then made the suggestion that he should write a little story to go along with the pictures that they had of her and her nest. So he did. He decided to take a chance and send the manuscript in to a publisher to see if they would publish it. A few weeks later he got the news that they would publish his first book. In addition Clem is working on his third book.
The rest of the story ie yet to unfold as thay say. What ever happens he will always remember that Robin that came to the old house at the edge of town.
