I've never not known how to read. In fact, I was reading books like "Huck Finn", "A Wrinkle in Time", at the tender ages of eight and nine. Since my grandmother was a librarian, she taught my younger sister and I how to use the card catalogue. I didn't know it then, but twenty some odd years later, when I was finishing up my Literature degree at the University of Judaism, I was the only one in my program, who wasn't "freaking" when the catalogue online went down as often as three times a week.. Because my grandmother started me out with an appreciation for the classics when I was so young, I knew who to turn to for book recommendations. Perhaps because I knew I'd never run marathons, I outdistanced my friends in reading, instead. My favorite authors are as numerous as the stars. But, here are just a few: Ferlinghetti, Kerouac, Dorothy Parker, Shel Silverstein, Dr. Seuss, Maya Angelou, Fern Michaels, Jack Finney, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Steinbeck, Twain, Langston Hughes.
