Travis Simmons breaks away from conventional publishing and instead follows the self-publishing route. His first book The Bonds of Blood (slated for release in Midsummer) is a book that he has been working on for many years. In thinking that writing the book was the hardest part he soon found that publishing in today’s economy for a new author was nearly impossible.
Armed with faith in his book and the urge to succeed he cast aside publishing houses and agents and instead took control of his own goals and dreams. He still eagerly seeks publishing with a larger publishing house, but for now is content in proving the worth of his novel alone.
The Bonds of Blood is a work of fiction, and while being so Travis have done extensive study and research into the legends and myths of several cultures to make this novel as real to his readers as possible. His fascination in researching started at an early age, and his thirst for knowledge ensued. It was not long after that he began weaving tales in a few short stories that he never sought publication for, but instead used them as building blocks for future projects. Being raised in the woods of upstate New York has really helped Travis in creating worlds that others have not entertained, for most of the setting for the book seems little farther than the woods off his back porch.
