About a year ago, I decided it was important to put to pen how I came to have a "green thumb" and why I was so intrigued with nature. This research took me back to my childhood where I spent every Sunday visiting my grandparents. I soon realized that they played a huge part in the beginning of my interest in gardening. My mother also helped nuture the love of gardening I had at an early age by helping me plant flowers and teaching me about their requirements and needs.
As I became a teenager, boys, dating, and life in general was first and foremost , so gardening was rarely on my mind. Over the last ten years though, my gardening interest has re-emerged and has literally almost become an obsession.
When I began my first book "The Green In Me" , my initial attempt was only to record my childhood memories from my grandparents gardens. However, many other stories began swimming around in my mind regarding encounters I have had with nature over the last several years. In addition, I had a library of over 2,000 pictures that I could incorporate to my stories to let the reader really experience the encounter as I had. I am almost done with my second book called "Just My Nature" that is a journey through the seasons in my east Tennessee garden along with several poems.
I am a stay at home mom and part-time substitute teacher at an elementary school. When the weather is warm, the stay at home mom is more the norm. I have no degree or awards under my belt....yet. I just felt I needed to share with the world, whoever might by interested, the "goings-on" in my East Tennessee garden. Mother Nature is ever-changing, not matter what the season. We just have to open our eyes and see.
