Claudette "Jayehoney" Reid presents emotional, playful, socially-(in)correct and inspirational poetry.  Her love of poetry began in 1974 while a senior in McKinley Technical Senior High School in Washington, DC.  The Wilson, NC, native, formerly a gossip column Editor, an Editor-In-Chief of her high
school newspaper, loves writing, reading, and reciting poetry.  An Honors English student, Claudette combines her knowledge of the English language, public-speaking rules and dramati-cal training to present "Jayehoney's Poetry."  She performs at open mic venues in Maryland and the District of Columbia.  She has also performed at Miles Jaye's Jazz Cafe at H2O in Washington, DC. Her love for theatre arts is clearly present when she performs.  "Poetry is the drama of storytelling," she states.
Having studied drama in high school, Claudette attended drama workshops at Trinity College Upward Bound, Arena Stage, Kennedy Center Improv, and once directed a teacher's talent show while in junior high school.  "Never Judge A Cover By Its Book" is a novel she hopes to someday publish, in addition to her poetry.
International Society of Poets has awarded Claudette with Outstanding Achievement Awards since 2005,  has been inducted as an Honorary Member for 2006, has had poetry published in 2005, has been a semi-finalist in an Open Poetry Contest, has also has been featured on the Sounds of Poetry cd, and presented points of view on Da Lamont Carey Radio Show.    She also started a small business, "Crocheted Creations by Claudette" in 2001.  Above all, credits belong to The Creator.
